cabover  Cab Over campers fit in the bed of a pickup and can be easily loaded and unloaded by one person.  They may have bathrooms with showers.  A small dinette and kitchen, some storage and a queen sized bed.  They are fairly tall and add significant height to your truck.

Though everything is small and compact they can be great for two people that have a truck.  Another excellent ability is that the option to tow another travel trailer or boat behind them is available.  You might think that towing another travel trailer would be silly, but if you have 5+ kids or kids and grand children you can have the cab to yourself and still bring a camper for the others.

http://www.timlist.net  Cab Over Pop-Up campers are just like the cab overs above.  However, they have around 18" or so of canvas that goes from the top that is  expanded as the top is raised.   This allows the roof to ride lower making it more aero dynamic.  You will want to be a little more careful when it comes to storage.  It will need to dry and air out like a pop-up to prevent mold and  mildew.  Also, may not be best in bear country...

5th wheel  Fifth wheels are the safest towing trailer there is.  They have most everything the travel trailers above do and more.   They can be bigger, longer, heavier, handle more options, weight, and more.  You can find them with 2+ slides and a $80,000 price tag.

You do loose the trucks bed space or much of it due to the hitch set up.  However, the hitches can be easily removed for when your not out on the road.

motorhome Motor homes tend to carry the name RV all to themselves.  However, I fight this in that they are just one of many types of Recreational Vehicles (RVs).  Motor homes are your bus length camper on a van or truck chassis.  You can get a simple 1/2 ton class Ford or Chevy van with a camper body or go all the way up to the 'Madden' style cruiser at 60' or so and $250,000.

Needless to say, you can get everything you want here from a slide out or four, satellite, and hotel like comfort.  Just park and your camping...sort of.

popup  Pop Up trailers can be towed behind most anything.  Be careful, your mini van is likely only capable of towing 3500 lbs and that is with a tow package and nothing else!  Most SUVs and trucks and a few larger cars will have no trouble towing a pop up.

Pop-ups may have a single bed or one on each end folding out to 26'+ when fully opened.  They generally sport Queens but you can get them with a King on both ends.  Through in a couch plus a dinette that folds into a double bed and you are sleeping a significant number of people.

They are small so their kitchens and bathrooms may not meet your needs.  They do have excellent storage and much less towing drag.

The only negative is they usually have to be popped up for much access.  Not great for day use.  May not be allowed in bear country due to tent siding, but sure put you closer to the sounds and scents of nature.

tgravel trailer  Travel Trailers are easily the most favorite way to camp and travel.  Cheaper than 5th Wheels and Motor Homes yet small enough for 1 or 2 people and pulled behind a small vehicle to nearly as large as a 5th Wheel.  They are not as safe a tow as the 5vers are.

Solid walls, but can be found with tent out ends, fold up walls, etc.  They offer some of the best room in a trailer but you need a good sized rig to tow them with.  The longer the wheel base on the tow vehicle the better!  Can easily be used at home for company or by the kids just for fun.  Can be good for day use as they are generally fully accessible once stopped.  I.e. you can park and go eat lunch at the dinette, access the fridge, bathroom, etc.  Can be heavy but also available in Light models.  But light models are often mean lower quality as well.

TT leave the bed of your truck open for further storage, etc.  TT really need a good hitch and anti sway system for safe towing.  Not as safe to tow as a 5ver, though with a good Weight Distributing hitch some like to argue they are every bit as safe.
